I want to lose some belly fat. Will stomach crunches do this?

I'm 15, 5'1 and weigh 135 exactly.

With my new school, I do about 30 minutes of walking everyday and there are about 8 or 9 flights of stairs to go up. All of a sudden, Ive lost 4 pounds, and I'm guessing the new route we take is what's doing it.

The only part of me that I want to tone up is my stomach, which isn't really that bad.

My question is,

Will doing stomach crunches everyday make this fat disappear?

  1. Hey

Nope.  Abs exercise have nothing to do with it.  Cardio makes it disappear.  If you really want to lose this fat and keep it off then you should be doing a combination of weights and cardio.  I combined these using the Your six pack quest routine.  It really helped me on my way.  There was 24/7 coaching, videos, book, meal plan, bodyweight workouts, cardio workouts and a virtual trainer.  I couldn't believe how much I got.  It was so unbeliveable I want to buy it again.  I've even got my family on this program and it's working for them too.  I found it at  http://fitness4u.sitesled.com .  This site also has some good free info.  Also some downloadable reports.

Good luck with the fat loss.  Don't give up.. you'll get there.

  2. The short answer to this question is, No. Stomach crunches will not make the fat disappear. What it WILL do is strengthen your abs, making them more noticeable. To lose fat, keep doing what you are doing: walking up and down stairs. This will help you lose fat over your whole body, and eventually you will lose fat on your stomach as well.

It is a common misconception that by doing certain exercises you will lose fat around the muscles you are working.

  3. Yeah it will! I done them after having my baby. Also drink water! I rode a bike too

  4. Over time, yea. but dont expect overnight results no matter how many crunches u do.
