I bought a 1999 toyota tacoma 2WD 4cly. Its a huge project for me and a learning experience. My goal is to take a worthless c**p truck and basically make it fast and mud friendly. I want to know what I need to do to reach my goal. any suggestion besides selling it would help! (anything helps: engine change, exhaust, lift, tires, rims, intakes, ANYTHING!)

Thanks!

  2. Aight, to make it fast you will want to replace the standard air filter, but since its gonna be in mud you need a heavy duty one also, a cold air intake wouldnt be a good idea because it would get lots of mud into it, ignition advance is a good cheap mod with noticable mods, if its gonna be used for fun only and not road use you could get ride of the un needed things, door interior skins, unused seats etc...

A 2.5" exhuast system should make it sound mean and make it a bit faster, get rid of the cat and get a set of headers should help flow also, if you wanna go real fast you could chuck on a turbo/super but thats a big step and will cost $$$$

as for mud driving you will probably want a limited slip diff, jack it upp, get some bigger rims but make sure you have bigger profile wheels also, a strut brace will help your steering become a bit more ridget,

if you wanted to go real hardcore you could get or build a roll cage, install a racing seat with a 4 or 6 point harness and get a 350 chev or somethin dropped into it,

    Good luck
