Even though the wedding is in Maryland, it is still technically the DC area. I am having a hard time trying to think of goodies to put in these welcome bags.

  1. A small souveiner  of one of the monuments would be cool. A map of interest you can get form the area tourism bureau would give them ideas of what to see and do. A tee shirt would be cool if you don't have too many guests. Postcards are good because they will have them to frame or send. A bus or tour schedule is useful. An Obama/McCain/Clinton button for fun (or some other politican would work too!) they don't have to agree with the party you choose, it's just for fun! An aerial photograph of the area is a cool idea too, Googlemaps does those.

I hope this helps! Good luck

  2. dc post card to send home (stamped)

a tour guide of the local monuments and attractions

    a list of local resturants

maybe plan a tour with your guests

  3. You can put a DC map in there, maybe a cute little handheld flag....um, that's all I got!

  4. Take a look around this website

    http://www.washington.org/index.php

I would contact this office to see if they have maps & visitors guides they can mail you (most tourism bureaus send these for free).  You could include those in all the bags.

  5. Some ideas:

    - postcards with DC monuments/landmarks pictured

    - a map of the city (in case your guests have time to do some sightseeing) and a Metro map (you can get free pocket maps in any Metro station, at the station manager's booth)

    - a spray/branch of cherry blossoms (fake ones, since they aren't in season) and cherry-blossom-scented bath products (Bath and Body Works has a cherry blossom line, and I think it comes in travel sizes)

  6. If your guests are from out of town, they may appreciate taking in some DC sites while they are not at your wedding.  I am not sure about DC but our area has a visitor's center that gives out free maps and pamplets about tourist attractions.  That would be free for you and it could be beneficial for them.  Another cute idea is make a tourist map on your computer of fun places and add to the bags if there is not a tourist info center....but you really dont have time for that kind of stuff.  Send someone to the tourist info or chamber of commerce to pick up stuff for you...dont stress yourself out!

  7. a Metropass and map with landmarks listed

    bottled water

chocolates or some type of snack

a pen and some postcards from the area

depending on the season, maybe a cheap umbrella

maybe you can put this stuff in a reusable bag that has DC on it
