  1. Belt buckles are easily manufactured, but caution if making counterfeits for profit (or personal use). If you purchase belt buckles, be extremely leary of the online auctions as the largest of these auction houses (won't name it but you know it) does nothing to protect against this type of problem. Many "sterling silver" belt buckles which have passed through on a LISTING at this auction website were copies of brass versions via the Lost Wax Cast Method. The counterfeiters merely made silicone molds for wax models, threw on a sterling wax plate and sprue, cast and finish, and then listed on the auction website. I watched a Colt Rampant (counterfeit) sell for $999.00 which was about 2.8 ounces of sterling silver at a value at about 35.00 at the time. The counterfeit was nice, and the seller even had a fake wooden box made to make it appear 100% authentic. Of course, this is the common line "I misplaced the COA, so it will not be included." Faking the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) is not so easy as it they follow the same printing and ink security as US Mint Paper Money. Good luck with making your belt buckle, and don't counterfeit ... it's a long stretch if you do and get arrest and convicted. Not worth making a few bucks to lose 5 to 25 years of your life.
