I want to make petroglyphs?

Find yourself a nice big rock and carve something into it.  Voila!  Petroglyphs are simply images carved into stone.

You should start with a nice piece of stone and the right tools. If you want to do the work by hand, try a chisel and hammer to start with. If you want to get the work done faster with fewer blisters, a small air hammer would be nice. You might want a good marker to trace out designs before you carve too. Be sure to wear a mask over your nose and mouth so you don't inhale the stone dust, and wear comfortable safety goggles to protect your eyes from sharp stone chips. Sounds like a fun project.
