  1. Why do you have this situation anyway?

You would require a real router (not a home router) with three Ethernet ports. Two of the Ethernet ports would have to be set up for DHCP, and the third port will be your LAN port. You would then want to connect a switch to this LAN port. You could use any home router as a switch, if you have one lying around. Just don't plug anything into the WAN port of the router.

You'll have to set up the router to be a DHCP server as well, unless you want to use static addressing.

If you wanted to bond your lines into a higher bandwidth trunk, no ISP that I know of will bind cable or DSL lines.

You would need to get bonded T1's (3 Mbps) from an ISP.

  2. Well, if you like Netgear try the VPN FVS336G that is a dual wan port gigbit unit. - http://www.netgear.com/Products/VPNandSS...

    Or HotBrick http://www.hotbrick.com/produto.asp?tipo...

    or any of the following.

PepLink http://www.peplink.com/  expensive but really good

    LINKSYS RV042 http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite...

    XINCOM XC-DPG502

    EDIMAX BR-624

    D-Link DI-LB604

All have dual wan interfaces with automatic LOAD BALANCE. None will combine the ports - that takes the ISP and Bonded Lines!

  3. You aren't going to be able to get a router capable of that cheap, and if you did get one you would have to learn how to configure it. You are better off buying a router for each modem.

  4. If you are a home user ,

the models suggested above will suffice . You will need to know some basic operations in an IOS (internetwork Operating System ) like system .

If you are a corporate (SOHO ) user ,

Its high time you get a highly specialized router from CISCO (might be  a very costly option ) .

A much cheaper alternative will be to get an entry level router with a dedicated firewall. This gie you a cheap yet highly scalable solution which will meet all your needs for years to come .

In india ... you may consult SNS India pvt ltd for firewalls and routers.(they are a highly specialized group in this type of setups and provide the cheapest solutions to my knowledge) .They are known to give really wonderful solutions to SOHO systems and have a clientele ranginhg from corporates like TCS, hexaware , HCL etc etc to small SOHO installations even at remote locations like delhi, mumbai etc etc .

Hope i was able to help .

    take care

  5. I don't know specific brands or which is best, but you want to web search for a "dual WAN router".  Unless you have specific routing for specific IP ranges, they load share (alternate) between the 2 connections.
