i have three bathrooms, a kitchen and a huge garden. i have a under ground water tank to take care of the house need. but i need water with a pressure for my bathrooms and garden. the pressure tanks in india are all imported ones, especially the 60 liters, as such costly and beyond my budget. so i thought i would manufacture one for myself. i need a step by step guidance with illustrations, and photographs to help me manufacture one tank. i have no knowledge about pressure tanks. so please help. thanks and regards.

  1. you do not need a tank, just a pump and a pressure regulator

if you want to be able to store hot water you will need to buy a well made tank or else you will be making a possible bomb

  2. The best I could suggest is if you can find an old barrel that will withstand some pressure and use that. In other words try to take a tank or container of some sort and convert it to your uses.  To manufacture one from scratch would more than likey be more costly than purchasing one.

  3. If you have high ground nearby, or the means to mount a water tank high in the air, you can go with a low tech gravity solution.  using hoses or PVC pipe, pump the water up from your underground tank or other water source into the tank on high ground or on a scaffold or tower you build with scrap lumber.  For a tank, you can use a stock tank or a series of clean vinyl trash cans with lids.   You'll need a way to attach a fitting to the bottom side of each tank or barrell, ask at a plumbing supplier for a fitting that can seal against such a material.

    good luck

Another option is to simply pump the water as needed using a sump pump in a water source.  The outlet of an inexpensive sump pump is often just an outdoor hose fitting

  4.     Your walking on thin ice here, so to speak. I say this because it takes a bit more then knowledge and expertise. You'll need a certain type of steel for the tank, something that's required by law to withstand certain pressures and time standards. Then it would have to be able to be welded to meet certain standards. then you'll need all the valves and lines that will all have to be able to meet the standards to meet the standings laws.

If I were you, I would go to someone like Little Giant or another company and, buy a ready made tank suitable for my needs that is safe and insurable, safe for the family.

Another way is to put small adaptable tanks under the sinks that will be handling these needs, the bathroom, the tub, just for these reasons. My son-in-law did this.

To even get into pressure tanks can buy yourself big trouble if you have one blow up on you and, it doesn't take much. A friend had one go at 80 pounds and rip out his throat, he lived but, he never spoke again.

  5. The simple answer is to elevate your tank. You won't need to pressurize your tank. Let gravity do the work. If you paint it black, or a dark color, you will have hot running water.
