He was adopted since birth.. which was 11 years ago. We're 5 years apart and I really want to meet him. Even just once. Any suggestions in what I should do to go about this?

  1. Ask your adoptive parents if they know his, and then see if they can help you get in tough. Maybe you should write letter back and forth for a little while, and then see if you two can meet up.

  2. df

  3. u want to meet him.. meet him... Just make sur ethat u don't get a ababy with him.... becasue he is ur brother :)D

  4. Her is a link for IL laws regarding adoption reunion.

    http://laws.adoption.com/statutes/illino...

According to the laws he is not old enough to initiate contact himself and I don't believe it would be legal for you to contact him since he is still a minor.  They do have a registry that possibly his parents registered or he can when he turns 18 which could facilitate meeting him.  I don't believe any of the reputable online searchers or groups will be able to help you due to his age.

If you have his information, I would contact the state of IL to see if you can make contact via his parents.  Good luck, wish I could help you more.

  5. Well being that your only 16 it might be difficult for you to gain access to records. Sometimes it takes money to find people can you afford that at 16?

  6. Well he would have to be willing to meet with you aswell. Youd have to think about his feelings. But im sure it would!

Well I suppose if you go through places where he was adopted from? Hospitals? For some people it takes years and years of hard work before they track them down! And then its frown back in their face because the person dosent want to see them!

just tred carefully, and  I wish you all the best of luck!

  7. tell your mom to do something so you can see him.

  8. Some adoptions are open in which the adoption agency will locate the parent and ask them if they wish to have you meet the child. However if he/she says no, then you will have to wait until your brother is 18 and he looks for you.

I was adopted at birth and according to a new law in the US, the adoption agencies have to locate or try to locate the biological parents to see if they wish to be found. I found my birth mother 5 yrs ago and my birth father last year. I also found out that I have an adopted sister. We arent related at all, but it would still be nice to know her.

If none of that works, you can try hiring a private investigator but that gets expensive!

I wish you lots of luck!

  9. You should wait until he's 18. He's probably not mature enough to be able to handle a situation like this. Does he even know he's adopted??? Contacting him now could be very traumatic to him. Honestly, I do not know that legal age for birth siblings, but birth parents can't contact until 18 years of age. I think it's wonderful you want to meet your brother!

  10. if you really want to meet your adopted little bro. set a time and place so that both of u can unwind..remember,be nice to him..talk about things he likes most,..who knows..u might end up being the best of friends!! good luck!!..just do your best..

  11. you could contact the agency through which he was adopted. And they can contact the adoptive parents  (If you are a minor than your mom will have to give permission), but the adoptive parents will decide if and when you can meet him.
