I want to move out of state. ?

Ok so I live in CT and want to move to Florida. I am a 23 yr old female. i have a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old. i recently left my bf and want to move away. Where do I start? How do I get a job before I get down there? I work for a compnay that also has locations on Fl but I dont know if I can get transfered b/c I have only been here 1 yr and plus the dept that I work in is only in the CT location. ♥

  1. Talk to your company and i'm sure they will accomadte you with a job Florida doing something else outher than the dept work your doing now.

That's great your current company has a place in Florida.  I wouldn't worry too much about the department.  Plenty of people make lateral moves and change departments or they get promoted to a new area.  I would certainly inquire.  Do you have any contact in that Florida company...I'd start talking with them and get your name floating around.  But I also wouldn't start any of that before you talk to your current boss in CT.  who knows they might be able to reccomend you or know someone higher up that can get you.  Do they have a company site that you can check jobs company wide -- not just CT listings.  I'd also be careful of what you say - you don't want people thinking that you're moving to FL and leaving them high and dry...you have keep in mind that you still want to have a job and this is a great way for you to possibly work with the same company and move.  

  3. You may need to do these things to get your plan in action:

    1. Request a transfer to a different dept. with an opening in Florida

    2.Continue to work at your current position. Set up a savings account.

        Put $$ out of every paycheck.

    3.  Research relocation websites:

    6.       Decide how you will move:

         1.  Drive from CT to Florida in your car.

         2.  Rent a UHAUL truck or trailer

         3.  Fly to Florida with one suitcase and one carry on bag.

              Have your belongings shipped to you once you are  

              settled in.

         4. Go back later for your car and drive it back to Florida.

         5. Sell your car and buy another one later.

         6. Have a yard sale. Sell furniture and miscellaneous items

             Use the $$ for your move. Buy again after you are

              settled.

         7. Once you are settled, go to the post office for

              change of address procedure.

         8. Once you are settled, go to the Florida DMV for your

              new driver's license.

         9. Take the bus or carpool until you get your car.

        10. Register your children for preschool or childcare.
