  1. Then make a completely fresh start, and move to the north....how about somewhere in The Lake District? Cumbria?

  2. A friend of mine moved to Leeds from Brighton and really loves it. There are great bars, cafes, restaurants, great shopping and it's a couple of hours from London on the train so not too far away.

  3. If u wanna go really far away Belfast is good! I've spent 3 years living there (I'm English) and in the university area (20 mins walk from the city centre) rents are around 180-230 a month, which is alot cheaper than Brighton! The nightlife is good, rent is fairly cheap and there are loads of jobs, plenty of stuff to do like shops, cinema, restaurants etc and ppl here are really friendly.

  4. DO NOT go bromly, its a S**t hole, you can go to dover, or country side just no big cities or bromley

  5. If you like the seaside, how about Portsmouth, or Fareham?

  6. Milton Keynes!!!

    its a fab place!!

great shops in the centre but its also very green: great for walks and bikerides, it has woods, fields everything and the shops aren't that far( about 10-15 minute drive depending on where you live) if you did move there I would suggest somewhere like Shenley Church end or loughton which are nice and peaceful but also near the centre MK. Its a fairly new town so not too built up but it has lots of job opportunities and stuff like that.

The crime isn't too bad either. So its a great place!!

and did I mention the shops?!! Oh yeah I did they're great!! There are restaurants, a cinema with 16 screens, a theatre, bowling, ice skating, airkix which is a indoor skydiving place EVERYTHING yet its still unspoilt!

you should definately move there!! Research it!( btw you should research xscape which is where the cinema, some of the restaurants, airkix and bowling are plus they have a massive snowslope!! Its all you could wish for and unspoilt!!

  7. Why do you want to move away from Brighton? I spent several years living elsewhere in the UK and abroad and came back to Brighton because it's such a great place to live, IMHO. The years I spent moving around were largely because I was unhappy in my relationship and my life, not because I didn't like the towns I was living in. Without wanting to sound patronising, think about your reasons for moving and whether going to a completely unfamiliar place with no friends or family will really make you happy in the long run.

  8. Depends what you're looking for. Couple more details?

Ok, well, in that case, if you aren't worried about distance and you want somewhere nice, and you're right, child minder, you won't have any snags getting work anywhere.

Now, I'm a tad biased on this, because I live in the same area, but if you want somewhere close to nightlife but quiet when you want it, there are few places better than any of the small towns around Edinburgh. You don't want to live in Edinburgh itself, because the only place you'll find a cheap place to live would likely be in an area where you really wouldn't want to. Get out of town a bit, rental price drops lots, as does buying price, and transport links into Edinburgh are excellent from all sides.

And Edinburgh, trust me, is well supplied with pubs, clubs and restaurants.

The rest of Scotland, well, you can find quality areas everywhere. You can also find c**p, same as anywhere else in the UK.

Best of luck. It's not been long since I've relocated back north from Portsmouth... but then I'm getting closer to home heading this way!

And don't worry, English people are still perfectly welcome in Scotland :)

PS... if you don't fancy Scotland, there's a nice little flat available in Portsmouth... the missus has been having snags selling it and it's probably going on the rental market! :) And Portsmouth's not bad either. Flat's a fifteen minute walk from the main shopping areas and about the same from Guildhall Walk, which is the main pub and club area. It wouldn't be dramatically expensive, either.

Downside. Portsmouth's full of sailors, most of whom will attempt to get into your knickers regardless of whether you're single, married, straight or g*y. Or whether they're single, married or attached. Most sailors are tarts. There are exceptions.

  9. Cambridge.....plenty of jobs and your less than an hour drive to coast. Great nightlife too.

  10. move to somewhere nice. not london, not manchester not liverpool. goto somewhere quiet maybe dover.

  11. Edit your question to say the sort of area you like - e.g. country or City life or near the sea again.  Also what do you like to do in your leisure time - are you a party girl or a sporty type, for example.

Cheap flats and City life don't always match but child care workers are needed all over.

Looking at Cities - fairly big one, but not enormous, is Bristol or Bath.  Both have a lot to offer.  Worcester? Lichfield? or further South West to Exeter?
