I am a U.S. citizen and I would really like to move to Canada. I have no family or friends there and I'm not super rich, so does anyone have any idea how I should start the process? How hard would it to get a Canadian visa and how?

  1. Man if you're willing to sleep with a canadian and marry him, heh, Well then if you are e-mail me lol

    Jk.

All I know is that it is alot easier then in the USA

  2. Learn a trade, find an employer.

Do you have a university degree?

EDIT: You don't have to apply for citizenship, just residency.

  3. www.cic.gc.ca  is the immigration website.  I don't think you are going to find it cheery.  If you really want to move to Canada - get yourself some skills to be someone who can contribute to Canada.

  4. I don't know much on this subject, but I am canadian. And I think the traditional route is either to wait it out while applying for citizenship or getting a work visa and apply while you're there(gives you a stronger case). Have any marketable skills? A degree or diploma in anything? If you do, apply for a job in that field, get a work visa dependent on you working that job, and apply for citizenship(which should take I think 3 yrs+, but don't quote me). Its not unlike moving to the US.

Go to this site http://canada.gc.ca and look for the right links.

What you really have to do is show some marketable skill. A diploma or degree definitely helps, because it enables you to land a quality job(which convinces the country you are worthy of citizenship). But even without a degree or diploma, you can still try the work visa route, and just work while you're in Canada. If in the span of applying for citizenship you can prove you've been gainfully employed, contributed to society, you'll likely be accepted. Canada is unique in that its underpopulated. Work in alberta, on the rigs. Your a girl, though, aren't you? They're itching for people willing to work in alberta, on the tar sands rigs. Very profitable, but kinda depressing work.
