Question:

I want to move to England

I'm going through a self revelation and had an epiphany that I should move to England. I know you need a visa but what steps should I take after obtaining a visa, how to find housing, work and all the basic necessities I would need. I'm 23 btw.

All answers appreciated, thanks in advance!

  1. Look into a working holiday visa.  If your country is part of the working holidaymakers scheme, you can move the UK and work for a while, and get a feel for it.

As for the details, that depends on who you ask.  Some people will tell you how to arrange everything before you go.  Me, I grabbed my visa, hopped on a plane, and landed in London with nothing arranged further than 2 nights in a hostel.  No job, no family, no friends, no ticket home.  Got myself sorted (2 weeks to find a room for rent that I liked, a month to find a job, but that was my own fault for procrastinating), had a blast once I got settled in.  Been overseas for 10 months, going home in 1 week, and I'm already planning to do the same thing again next year.

  2. Contact the British Embassy in the country where you live.

Before you go all ga-ga, why not go on an extended vacation there.  Find out if you really like it.   (Just saying, cause I hate it.)
