Are the stories true? I have always loved the Indian culture. I want to return to my roots. Where should I begin? I hope my Brothers and Sisters will guide me. Thank you.

  1. I have several friends who moved back to India and are pretty content living there.  You probably have to go make a visit and see how you like it or take 3 months break and try living there.  Best way to permanently move and don't think of coming back.  Lifestyle is probably better there but the day to day traffic, noise pollution and dealing with the local government, getting basic stuff done, office environment, etc. is not as smooth as it is in the west.

Respond back with particular questions, if any.

  2. India is the largest democracy on the planet.  As you can tell when you call customer support sometimes, a lot of jobs that don't require actually being in the country are outsourced elsewhere.  The point of this is, if you go to India, as a person, there are A LOT of people there, and many are not living a lifestyle an American would be accustomed to.  Now, if you catch a trend, and make a name for yourself in their booming economy, you will probably love it, because you would be in India living an American lifestyle.  So my suggestion is to try and have an economic reason to go to India, instead of just going to live, and you will do great with your time there.  Maybe an International company will pay to have you move there, if you are needed in their operations.  That would probably be the best for you.

  3. india is probably a great place to vacation to but im not sure to live. if you've never been there before i suggest you dont just get up and move

  4. you can stay with some friends or relatives. that way can pick up the culture easier and they can guide you whenever you need help and keep you away from trouble. that's what i did when i lived in india to study there. if you know how to speak your mother tongue and have respect for the culture, indian people respect you. i initially had a hard time because i didn't speak my mother tongue fluently, but i eventually learned it little by little when i was living there.

  5. You are listening to the wrong people

  6. Indian Heritage and problems in India, both exist there, depends on you, what way you look at it. about people wanting to move to USA, its all because of more opportunities and money, many people go back to their roots after meeting the earning target. People who have been living in USA miss and dream about India, their own culture and keep following their traditions.

  7. You should go to India, you are asking the wrong NRIs a******s b******s who do not love India, may their lot die with them. INDIA will always be the future, s***w the west , all they can do is call names and spread rumors about other countries. America needs a lesson in manners and human decency, atleast India has never invaded or killed anyone, though we have the 4 biggest army and the 3 rd biggest navy.. the day we decide to, US , Pakistan and all Islamic countries will be at or feet... long live the Hindu religion, Long live INDIA

  8. Hi Sarvani,

I can understand your condition as i feel everyday same.

You can do one thing , go there for 6-12 months and experience that first.

You have to mentaly prepare for few things before you go there.. economy difference.. weather ..

you might be earning 1/3 or 1/4 of you salary compare to US. but life is much better in India , quality of life could be better in USA but Happiness is in Indian life..

Someone has said that lots of people wants to go to u.s from India as they are after money.

I live in U.K and planning to go back to my roots in  5 years time...

  9. Look at it this way.

Why would so many Indians want to come to the US?

How many Indians want to go back to Inda?

    Should tell you something.

  10. You haven't been listening to the right people.  I am an American, now living back in the State after a year in India.  Can't wait until I'm able to return there for the rest of my life (after daughter goes to college in 3yrs) and we return to India every school break she has.

Every country has some bad stories, but seems now a days, very few people ever want to tell the good things about places.  Go for it!!!

  11. I would suggest that you go there for one year first and give it a try out before moving there lock stock and barrel. Each person's situation is different. I have lived outside India for eleven years... and I know that for my profession I will not have the same quality of life I have had outside India. I also am independent and can live without a housemaid/ servants while for some people things like that are deciding factors.

As a middle class woman I find that my quality of life overseas is so much better and I can enjoy a clean environment in a budget hotel/ restaurant, nature (parks) within easy reach, tennis, swimming, etc... which I could never have in India unless I had a plush salary.

I also feel very bad about the economic differences between the rich and the poor in India, and that there is very little dignity of labour: here in the west, a waitress, a construction worker, a doctor etc, get treated with the the same respect if they were to enter a public office... while in India a lot depends on who you know.

So if you can make a trip for a year and then decide you will be your own judge... you've nothing  to lose, except maybe a return flight ticket!

  12. hi.

I am not living in India, but I am Indian.

Many Indians move to the U.S because it's much better condition. water, air, cars, pollution, etc. However India is getting much better, it's become more civilized.

The indian culture is very good, but the country is improving.

If you want to move to India, you should wait for couple years, or if you want to move now, you can. If you more later, it would be better because india will be more improved.

You could try living there for 6 months, and see. And if you like it, you could move permanently, or move back.
