  1. Try Canada...working visa where you can study too...

  2. I am french and I am a student in NYC.

You do need a student visa if you wanna study in US.

First you have to obtain an I20 form from the school you wanna go to. To get this form, you have to show financial support. For me it was 15 000$. Your parents, friends, acquaintance can be your sponsor or even yourself. You will receive your I20 form by mail. You will also have to pay sevis fees (100$) and bring the receipt at the embassy. Then you will need to make an appointment at this US embassy in Ireland; You will have to bring your I20, bring some forms available on the us embassy website from your home country, show financial support again, and the most important it to prove that you are going to come back to your home country after your studies, because for them you are a potential immigrant (if you wanna live in US it doesn't matter tell them you will come back  to your country and that you don't wanna stay in us). So bring any documents that show you ties to your home country (job, house, bank account, family etc).

Usually they give you a student visa for 5years. They might deny your visa at the first appointment...so you will need to come back again.

As for work, with a student visa you can only get a job on campus no more than 20hours a week....and you will  have to get a work authorization from the school. If you wanna work off campus you will have to wait 1year and then you may ask for an off campus work permit from the school (it is possible to work up to twenty hours a week during the academic year and full-time during the summer and vacation periods.). And the work authorization is available 1year, and difficult to obtain because you have to prove many things (In your application, you must establish and document the fact that unforeseen changes that severely affect your financial resources have occurred.)...it's really annoying. But I'll tell you something...most of the foreign student are working without work authorization and they get paid under the table and it's a good thing (cash so no tax!!!!!). Most of them work as waiter/waitress. I think you will be fine. Don't worry about that.

I am sorry for my english
