I'm tired of the USA and want a fresh change. I don't know how to go about moving to a new country, best place to look for work, etc. Anybody with ideas?

  1. Scandinavia, Australia and Switzerland are better options in comparison with the UK in terms of work.

Scandinavia- good at English language- welcoming and friendly- jobs are easy to find- very highly paid- high cost of living- you may or may not like the weather. Very peaceful and developed. Not so easy to obtain right to work.

Australia- speak English,  welcoming and friendly, plenty of jobs, easy to get right to work if you have certain skills. Lots to see do and enjoy due to its huge size.

The Swiss mostly understand English, a very well organised and beautiful country but there isn't much to do socially for foreign people. Politically and economically strong, peaceful. Consider it If you love mountains and nature.

UK: Not too many jobs, wages haven't kept pace with inflation, mostly dull, cold and wet weather. Rich in culture.

  2. This is an earlier answer I gave to a similar question about an American moving to the UK...

"If you are not from the EEA (European Economic Area) you don't stand a cat in h***s chance of being able to come here to live and work unless you have a shed load of money to invest, are being transferred by an American company with a branch over here, or you have a skill that is in high demand and can manage to get a position that cannot be filled by someone from the EEA...

Our country now runs a points system for people coming here to live/work and if you can't fill any of the above criteria you may as well forget it. We would have the same problems trying to work in the States."

And this is also a very useful site aimed specifically at Americans...

  3. moving to a completely different part of the USA would probably be a much easier option ... have you actually ever been to the UK?  ... come and visit first

  4. You can apply for a work visa. It's a point system similar to that of Australia, so you are mostly to be accepted if you are a highly skilled worker, aside from that there are few more alternatives. Visit the site http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/

To tell you the truth, a lot of Pinoys and families I know migrated from U.K. to either Australia or USA mainly because of the gloomy climate. I'm not saying migrating to the U.K. is a bad idea, there are loads of pros and cons. You can afford to have one job without to worry about healthcare, primary and secondary educations. Loads of paid leave. Cons are high cost of living and property is astronomically high.

Work wise, you could start search in the internet. There are lots of work agencies who will find you a job for commission.
