I am NOT close to getting a child, or even marriage, but I was just thinking of names for my future children and came up with Garnet for a girl. To me, Garnet is just a beautiful name. An image of perfection. But when I told my mom about the name, she said she didn't like it.

What do you think of the name Garnet for a girl?

  1. I love the name! Garnet Rose, Garnet Ruby.

Her first ring you can get her a Garnet.

Its nice when our folks agree with our choices, but when it comes to naming our kids,  we need to do what we want. They got the chance to name us when we were born. :)

  2. I like it for a boy name

  3. I think it's a pretty cool name.

    it's very unique.

    :D

  4. I love Garnet but for a boy! I saw a movie recently on Sundance called "Flower and Garnet" about a girl, flower, whose mother dies while in labor and is forced to play the mothering role to her new baby brother, Garnet. This is the only association I have with the name so I automatically see it as a boy name.

I am sure seeing it on an adorable little girl could change my mind though.

I think if you love it you should hold on too and reevaluate it when the time comes to name an actually child. Maybe your husband will hate or maybe it could be his favorite name too, LOL! Or you could marry someone with a last name that doesn't sound good with Garnet and you wouldn't be able to use it (i.e. Garnet Harnet or Garnet Garrett)

Plus, this is your kid, not your moms. You and your husband get to name it.

  5. Garnet  is a unisex name. I have only ever heard of old men with this name, but I think it would be cute for a girl.

  6. Don't worry, you'll be over that name by the time you're old enough to have a child.

  7. I think it would be a cute middle name for a girl and a good first name for a boy. It's a nice name though.

  8. I'm with your mom I hate that name it reminds me of Kevin Garnett the basketball player The boi

  9. Dont like it :(

  10. i like it, it's pretty.

  11. It is a lovely name, and it is old fashioned too.  My grandmother had a friend named Garnet and my mom went to school with a girl named Garnet...

  12. If she was born in January, I think it would be great since that is the birthstone for that month. Otherwise, it might be a bit strange. But it's a nice name; I've heard much worse.

  13. Garnette might be more feminine looking. Forget what your mom says, it's your baby not hers.

  14. I've only ever heard it used on a boy, and I liked it ... but being it is the name of a gem, it could very well be unisex.

    Blessings

  15. Im not a fan
