I want to obtain a copy of an ancestors UK marraige licence from the 1940's, how can I get this ?

I know that the marraige took place in Liverpool North, in Quarter 1 of 1947.

  1. There are a few options... one would be to apply to the General Registry Office, to the local Registry Office in Liverpool or have someone do a transcription for you. The latter is often a bit cheaper.

  2. UK answer.

    You will be able to order the marriage certificate on line for £7:00 from the GRO  (below).  If  you have their numbers which are unique to them you wont need them if you order from the the Register Office in Liverpool.
