I heard I don't need a license if I use my name, but, I want to use another name, anyway. Also, what about the taxes I pay, how do I figure that out, and do I charge the customer? Please if you can help show me links and explain them. Thanks.

  1. To many question, to start your own business, If you do not think you charge the customer, than who do you think you change for the work. First you do not clean the houses, you have people to do that work, you will be busy running a business, finding new costumer, answering the phones, and doing paper work. You will need a occupational license, to get a business account at the bank, even if it is a DBA. You will have book keeping up the rear. You may have to hire a part time book keeper to get started, until you learn the ropes.Get a book,"starting a new business" and read it.Oh the big thing, have money. You can learn the rest as you go along and grow your business.

  2. yep,, you can go to the county you live in and give them the name of your bizz, make it a limited liability corporation,, with llc you are not personally liable for damages, and call an insurance company and ask what kind of rates they are willing to give you,, then,,,,, go for it!!

  3. Check with Texas State Comptroller,or with your County Clerk for the paperwork. Also go here:

    www.irs.gov

You will have to apply for a federal employer tax ID number. It's free. And look in the Blue pages of your phone book under "U.S. Government" to see where the nearest office of Internal Revenue Service - Taxpayer Assitance Division is. They will have free booklets on what you will need to start your business, and they can also do all your taxes for free. Just bring in all paperwork and info for that tax year.
