I am just in the planning process of openning a sushi place in the St. Petersburg/Tampa, Florida area. Preferably near the beach in a high traffic area. At this sushi place YOU MAKE THE ROLL. Yes, think of it as a subway of sorts. You walk in, pick your ingredients while we roll and enjoy! It will provide a relaxing, warm climate environment. The sushi will be the best quality and quantity for the buck. About 4 bucks per giant 8 piece roll. What do you think? Is this something the local community could b interested in? I'm up for any suggestions.

  1. I used to live in Tampa.  I think you have a great idea that would work in any large city! It is a unique idea.  I have never seen it anywhere before.  I would go to that kind of restaurant for sure.  Many restaurants start out in Florida because it is a good test market, with a diverse population.  Good luck.

How about the name, "Let's Roll!" or "Rolls to Go."

  2. i'd go. i love sushi.

  3. Sounds like a great idea if you can really keep the cost down like $4 per big roll. Might be a bit challenging though because properties on/near the beaches are the most expensive, not to mention the crazy tax...

People will be interested -more local Publix started to carry Sushi these days- and beach visitors usually love fresh seafood.

Anything along Gulf Blvd would be a great location for restaurants.

    Good luck!!

  4. As a Tampa/Sushi guy I'd have to ponder that idea.    That is cheap..   I think high traffic is key though.  It could work but just like most business I guess location would be key. Where yah thinking?  Clearwater, St Pete, Madeira???  With all the new Condos at Clearwater beach that may be the best bet because you have constant foot traffic and not just seasonal pedestrians.
