I want to open an Online Trading account with less/no fees.?

Question

I am planning to invest between $500-$1000 per month either in Mutual fund or trading stocks.

I may not be able to invest all months in a year.

Which is the best online trading account that won't charge inactive fee, maintenance fee for not performing any transactions? Also an account that charge less fee per trade.

I read about Zecco through answers.com but found they charge $4.50 if net investment is less than $2500.

Appreciate your help.

I like Scottrade its easy and they have a branch nearby. 7.00 a trade is not bad for what I get from them.
