  1. SORRY I LOVE TO HELP YOU BUT IT IS ILLEGAL IN ALL COUNTRIES NOW ADAYS UNLESS YOU RUN A SQUIRREL RESCUE FARM. BUT YOU CAN'T KEEP IT AS A PET AND IT'S ILLEGAL AS THEY ARE INDANGERED SPEICES.

I WOULD SUGGEST A FERRET OR CHIPMUNK OR MABYE A DEGUS AS THEY ACT QUITE LIKE SQURRELS

  2. is that even legal?

  3. I suggest that you DON'T get a squirrel. They are wild animals and should stay wild. I would look into another pet if I was you like a gerbil (their very friendly and cute), a rabbit , or a cat.

  4. Squirrels aren't legal, but I saw someone that had a squirrel in their backyard and the squirrel came up to her.

If you could get one to come to you, go ahead and take care of it, I guess.

You would have to do a LOT of research to find out what they like to eat and need as surroundings. But, if you can do that, and supply a vast area for them to play, then just don't claim it as a "pet" but just as a friend that came to you.

Oh, and they aren't legal pets, so you can't buy one or a license and I don't think you can get them ANYwhere, at least in the USA.

  5. Squirrels are a lot of fun, but because they are wild animals, it's going to be difficult to keep one legally.

As far as a complete list of states that consider it legal to keep squirrels as pets, try looking here. It's not complete, but it may help you find out:

Many states require a permit, but that depends on the state. You can get in touch with the Game and Fish department of whatever state you are looking into. Here is the website for Arizona:

Even in states where it is legal to keep squirrels as pets, they must be domestically bred. You would need to purchase one from a USDA licensed breeder. It is not legal to keep wild-caught squirrels, not even for a short time. Here is a list of dealers that work with squirrels:

Also, please make sure you do a lot of research. Squirrels are absolutely adorable, but they are major troublemakers. Here are a few sites that will help you to truly decide if a squirrel is the right pet for you:
