I want to pack a suitcase, with food from home..frozen meat, spices, chips, bread...Is this OK?

My flight to CA., is hour and a half..We are staying in my condo...Of course I will pack it in ice....In States You can pack any food product, I found out... Thanks anyway..

half the fun in a different town is eating out    if money is the object just ask someone where is a cheap place to eat that has good food  pick a person on the street that looks like a working class  they understand

Most prepackaged dry foods and snack foods will be ok, but they will find and confiscate almost any fresh food, even cryovac packaged meats. And you will have an inconveniently long wait in customs while they do it.

Unless you are travelling for a VERY short amount of time, and NOT by plane, or entering another Country, you will be wasting some food. It is illegal to transport certain foods, meats, vegetables and fruits into foreign countries, they will be confiscated and destoyed. Of course one must wonder why you would want to transport frozen foods etc in a suitcase. There are companies like UPS who might be able to assist.

Why bother taking a chance, why not buy it in California? Spices, chips and bread I can see that is fine, would'nt attempt the frozen meat..Why waste money for a "just in case" situation?!?!? Just with the meat, that is!!

Check with your consulate or Embassy to make sure you can bring the foods you want to into the USA. It can be embarrassing when you go through customs and they have to empty your bags in front of everyone..!

Not if you're traveling from outside the US into the US.

First of all unless you pack frozen meat in a cooler it won't last.  And if you go through customs you must declaire that you have food.
