  2. Any latex paint is safe to use, latex paint has been lead free for quite some time. I really don't recommend oil paint.

  3. I wouldn't paint it at all. Because that's just how I am. I'd be afraid of the lead, and then if the toddler starts to teething he will want to chew and gnaw on the closest thing to him which would prolly be the crib and then he'd get paint all in his mouth. That is one reason why I'm really iffy about getting a crib. But its your decision!
