You can have it gold plated, if you can find someone who could do it.  Good Luck.

Bad idea.  Lots of moving parts.

You might be able to find someone who would annodize it.  That would stick, and is thin enough that it shouldn't interefere with the workings too much.

Depending on how precision it is, even that could interfere with the workings, and at the very least, you'd need to strip it right back out of the barrel, because you can't just annodize part of something.
