  1. Yellow would go very nicely with white and greyish-blue.

You dont necessarily have to paint the cabinets itself. New hardware and a coat of paint on the walls could do it for you.

Or you could leave it white and have accent colors to pop out, like this

maybe even green and grey, like this

  2. ****I see two great options ~ a light gray would look hot and/or a light gray with a deeper grayish blue accents.  You could tape an area and make a grayish blue stripe around the room for an accent, depending on how large your kitchen is.  Or you could stencil a saying around the kitchen in grayish blue accents.

I've done basically the same thing only going up my stairs to the attic.  I put a black strip on a "peanut butter" colored wall and turned the stripe into an arrow.  I think I want to stencil the word "Up" over it. .  . . .

  3. Most "eating" rooms (kitchens, dining rooms, breakfast nooks) are painted a "food" color as it tends to stimulate the appetite (just look at the dining rooms of restaurants - they are almost always reds, oranges, yellows, browns, and sometimes greens....).

Based on the colors you've described, I would go with either a soft, buttery yellow, an apple green, or a more vibrant pumpkin or tangerine orange, with chocolate brown accents.

If those sound too "wild" to you, you could always just go with a neutral tan or parchment color - warmer than white, but not too bold.

    Hope this helps.

  4. I think yellow would be a great color for a kitchen.  yellow with white trim always brightens  the room and they look great together.  It doesn't have to be canary yellow, there are obviously countless yellows to choose from.  Just my opinion.
