I want to perform consistently says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Malcolm-Waller-c74039 – Cricket News Update
After his heroics in the final one-dayer against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, Zimbabwe’s Malcolm Waller insisted that he wants to consistently perform for the team in an all-round capacity.
"I want to perform more consistently," he said. "If I can do well in the bowling department as well it means we can have an extra bowler, too."
After resounding defeats in the T20s and the first two ODIs, many would have predicted another easy win for the Kiwi’s when they put on a daunting total of 328 on the board. However, a rampant Rhodesian’s batting contingent silenced their doubters with an
utterly impeccable performance, helping them to win the third game by just 1 wicket.
The instigator again was their skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/T-Taibu-c2630 then provided the heroics in the middle-stage with a power packed 53 off 39, helping his team to remain
in the hunt.
The late onslaught was then provided by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waller-c95917, who stood tall and guided the team to the finishing line with a defiant unbeaten knock of 99. After a slow start, the player cut loose and blasted 10 fours and one six to steal the show. It also included a
final run, which propelled the team to register their first win against the Kiwis.
"I thought of swinging at the second last ball and trying to get it over the field but then I decided not to," Waller told ESPN cricinfo. "Somehow I managed to stay pretty calm.”
Earlier, the team relied heavily on the heroics of one batsman, which usually was their skipper, however, with most of the batting line-up clicking, it made the task a whole lot easier and Waller recognized this as the turning point for their emphatic win.
"It was a big task but we said to ourselves that we didn't have anything to lose," he said. "We knew that with a few good partnerships, we could get close."
With confidence back, the next task for the Rhodesian will be to perform well in the One-off Test, which will commence on November 1st.
