  1. I was in Tulum only yesterday and on my way home I stopped at Xel-ha.

Tulum is an ancient Maya astrological site...amazingly beautiful because it is right on the Caribbean Sea.. There are no pyramids to climb but some great architecture.

There are some great resorts all along the Rivera Maya in Playa del Carmen, Akumel, and Tulum. I do suggest Playa if you like some night life outside of your hotel.

Xel-ha is a must see water park. It is a beautiful natural aquarium and it is "all inclusive" with some great food and drinks, towels, lockers and snorkel equipment.

The tour I took I booked through Entertainment-Plus.

  2. I went to Akumal (about an hour North of Tulum) in January and we visited Tulum to see the Mayan Ruins. I wasn't too excited about seeing them, they're just a big pile of rocks anyway... or so I thought. It was a wonderful area and the scenery is beautiful, especially when you get to the top of the hill and you see the Caribbean Ocean. I was overwhelmed by the blueness of the water. It was sooo beautiful!! A wonderful place to take pictures and there is a beach right there so if you want to swim you can. Just down the road there is a resort where you can go parasailing and snorkeling, etc. I would reccommend going there. In the city of Tulum there are a lot of little shops if you want to do some local shopping. I thought that my trip to Mexico was the best thing ever!

Hope you have a lot of fun in the sun!

p.s. There is a place I went to called the Xel-Ha (Shell Ha) and I paid 70 USD to get in. It is an aquatic theme park basically and if you pay the $70, everything in the park is free. You don't have to pay for food, drinks, snorkeling gear, or anything etc. The park is centered around a freshwater river (you can use it as a lazy river, about a 1 1/2 hour tube-ride through trees and amazing scenery, or you can snorkel down it, complete with tropical fish and sting rays!). There are a couple restaurants and bars in the park too, it was sooo fun. I spent a whole day there. There's also a thing where you can swim with dolphins! It was a great experience!

I would highly reccommend that place too.

Again, happy traveling and have fun!
