I want to plant trees in my 80 acres -West Texas , what kind of trees would you recomend for that area?

I am interested on increasing the value of my land by planting Timber Trees. This area is loacated close to Bledsoe Texas.

  1. A great place to start would be with the Texas Forest Service. It is a part of Texas AM.

    Also you could contact your local extension agent.

  2. pine grows quick or black walnut or white oak all 3 should grow there very well in 30 years if you where to do all 80 it would be worth around 15 to 20 mil rough est.

  3. Empress trees are good for soft timber if you want to fill it up fast. If you are looking for a quality wood, I would look at evergreen trees such as redwoods, pines.

    Another option is to look in to bamboos, especially clumping types and running varieties are OK as long as you have a containment system.
