I want to play all three formats of the game, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026 – Cricket News Update
Alastair Cook, the English ODI skipper, has expressed his heartiest desire to lead Team England from the front in all three formats of the game. He is hopeful of being selected in the T20I squad that is set to face http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in two games, later this month.
Cook aired these views after receiving the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Test Cricket of the Year award in a gala ceremony held in London last night.
Having done no so well in the 20-over format so far, Cook is not considered favourable for the shortest format. However, England's ODI skipper wishes to prove his mettle in the Twenty20 version as well.
Both http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eoin-Joseph-Gerard-Morgan-c56032, the newly appointed captain and vice-captain of England’s T20I wing are injured and Cook is likely to be given the baton to lead the team against the Windies.
Talking to the media, Cook said, “Obviously it's very disappointing for Stuart to miss out. It's gutting for him, but it gives another person a chance to captain England. The selectors will make that decision.”
Cook believes that his excellent performance in a 20-over game for Essex will put him in better position in front of the selectors, who are going to announce the final squad within days.
“But I've scored runs for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749) I hope I can show that again,” he shared.
Cooky, who played an instrumental role in his team’s last Ashes victory and a fabulous triumph in recently-concluded npower Test series, claims that Test cricket suits better to his batting style and he feels more comfortable in this format.
He stated, “I've always said I want to play all three formats of the game. Test cricket obviously comes a bit more naturally to me and suits my style of game.”
The 26-year-old led the Poms to win their ongoing ODI series 2-0 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, on Sunday, September 11.
The left-handed batsman has played just 4 T20Is so far and scored 61. He last played in this format two years back.
