  1. play defense.

  2. i've been playing field hockey for 5 years, and im probably the slowest runner ever! it's okayy just start running now. i know its a lot harder than it sounds, im having so much trouble getting motivated to get in shape! also really work on your stick skills because if you're good with a stick no one will care that you're slow.  It's probably too late to sign up for a camp, so just practice dribbling and driving in your own yard or at a local field. if you have any friends that already play, ask them to help you learn!

good luck, its a  really fun sport! (minus the running...)

  3. i was the same way pretty much.

i started freshman year and i was out of shape/not the best runner.

i think what i did was that i swam all summer and ran at least twice a week.

but when preseason tryouts came i didn't think i would make the team but i did and it really helped me alot because im going to be a senior in the fall.

i playy defense and you havee to run alot too not as much as the forwards and mids but you still have to run alot.!

  4. Get in the best shape you can , run anyway even if your not" fast". A quick first step is almost as important as raw speed. As my middle daughters D1 coach stated " they put the fast horses in front and the nags in back". The super fast players were forwards and the strong slower playes were defenders.

  5. you will have to run even if your defence trust me

    go for runs every day
