  1. Fast guitar picking requires nothing more than LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of practice.  It does not require specific pickups or other equipment.  I know guys who can play blazingly fast bluegrass guitar solos on acoustic guitars which have NO pickups at all.

IOW, if you can't play fast, its not your guitar's fault, LOL. You don't suck, you just need more practice.

But in order for fast playing to sound good, your playing HAS to be crystal clear and clean, and your rhythm and timing have GOT to be impeccable.  In order to get your playing clean and your timing solid, you have to practice SLOW and with a metronome.  Set the metronome for a slow-to-moderate tempo and practice the riff or solo that you're working on along with the metronome click, until you can do it perfectly at that speed -- clean picking, clear hammer-ons and pulloffs, good tone, and rock solid timing along with the 'nome.   Then bump the metronome speed up a couple of notches, and practice it again at that slightly faster speed until you once again have it perfect; then increase the metronome speed a bit more, practice it again at that new speed until its perfect, and so on......so you slowly and gradually build up to that desired speed.

  2. you just suck but youll get better faster than you think....remember when your first learning you learn slow but when you get a little better you get better faster and faster.  find some hammer on exercises and pull offs and do 30 minutes a day for 30 days straight and youll be good at it

  3. THe above anwser are correct pickups don't matter. If you are trying to play fast you have many methods (alternative picking, sweep picking, economy picking, etc. ) now with hammer ons and pull offs you need to make sure that your you use enough fourc when you strike the strings for and hammer ons and that you pull off with force for pull offs. Here the tabs to a l**k that will help you build up speed.

or better yet look up the speed building l**k at www.freeguitarvideos.com

try it with all the methods i listed above and working with a metronome  would be great too

  4. Pick ups have nothing to do with being able to hammer on and pull off; it's all in your control.

With that said, you don't suck. You're just a beginner (I'm guessing). Practice hammer ons and pull offs and you'll be good to go. You won't get anywhere without practice.
