  1. In a lot of states, the public schools DO NOT have to let you play, and you parents still have to pay taxes. Yes it stinks but that is the way it is and it is not going to change. Our community leagues usually end at 13-14 so that wouldn't be a good help.

Check to see if there are homeschool leagues in your area. Most of the homeschool leagues in my state are very advanced, like select sports, very competitive. And as someone mentioned, some private schools will take homeschool students on their rosters.

If you do not have access to that type of environment in your state, then you may have to try the walk on approach to pursue your dream.

  2. You also might want to look into the school sports thing a little more.  You may not be a member of that school, but you are a member of the school district because you are a resident of your town.  The bottom line is your parents pay school taxes whether you actually attend the school or not so chances are, if you talk to the right people, they have to let you play.

  3. Check with your community center to see if they offer any sports.  Also, usually there are homeschool groups that offer some sort of sports to participate in.  At least they do in my area.  I am a homeschooling mother and I know that our community has opportunities other than school affiliated to play sports.  Have your mom or dad check into it for you.

  4. Check with some private schools, especially church-run schools.  Most are very open to let HS'ers play - with a fee.

  5. Check out your local community for amateur sports clubs, your local sports centre etc. It isn't just schools who play sports!

  6. join a home school group for outtings check with your local ymca

  7. Check with Home school legal defense association. www.hslda.org

My daughter is involved with sports and clubs at the local high school we are zoned for. We are in Florida, all states have different rules. Don't just check with the school and take their word for it. Some of them truly do not know that they are supposed to allow home schoolers. But be polite when inquiring!

    Good Luck!

edit: Why in the world would that get a thumbs down? Im confused. This comes from personal experience from myself and friends.

  8. Our area is blessed with both community leagues and homeschool leagues.  Many homeschoolers play in both leagues for soccer, football, baseball and basketball.

If it has been your dream since you were four, you have apparently been playing since you were four.  Our area public school teams do not start until middle school years.  Continue with the league that  you have been playing since you were a little kid.

  9. There is NO baseball in any high school I've ever heard of.

Eveyrone does LITTLE LEAGUE for that.

Football will be a problem.  I know of no park or weekend real football teams with tackle and uniforms.
