is playing the violin really hard? i've wanted to play it for awhile.

i've learned guitar since september, and i know all the basics and just need lots of practice. how much years would it take for me to play a violin as well as intermediate violin players?

is it worth it? or should i just stick to guitar?

  1. playing the violin isnt that hard but sometimes it isnt that easy though. but ive managed to self teach my violin at age 14 so it must be easy. it is worth it because then u can learn more than 1 instrument

  2. if you love the instrument, go for it. Don't think that you will play it as easy as the guitar.

It's takes a little more practice to get a good tone with the bow and the correct position to hold and play the findgerboard.

Obviously, the fingerboared is not lke a guitar and , to get any note dead on , will  require some practice.

Give it a try but I bet to go back to guitar.

  3. It is never too late to learn!  Though knowing another instrument may help the process, violin is a very involved instrument. It WILL take you a decent amount of time before you are putting out a good sound.

A general consensus among other players is that it took about 4 years before they were able to play what they wanted and sound overall pretty good.

  4. You'll have a head start because you read music some and fingering on the violin requires the same dexterity as a guitar. You'll probably pick up the basics quite fast, but as with anything, learning to do it well will take patience and effort.

Find out who the best teacher available is and take a few introductory lessons. If you try to learn it on your own you may pick up bad habits that will make it virtually impossible to advance beyond beginner level. Just like the guitar, too, you'll want a decent instrument to start with - you can rent them by the month from music stores. Luck to you!

  5. you have to ask yourself if its worth it.

if its somethng that you really want then you will do it if not then why do it?

  6. If you put your whole head into it, it will be easy.  Be willing to learn it and atleast practice an hr every other day.  It's really not that hard. If you take it at baby steps and concentrate, you will accelerate very very quickly. I've done violin and I know. It's fun and all, and pretty easy.
