I want to print out photos of my son's first 5 years of his life (he turned 5 in June)--I have a lot of pictures. The problem is that I have multiple copies of the same photo (wasn't diligent at erasing as I downloaded). Is there a way to elimate duplicates so I can print only one copy of each? This is how I plan to spend my rebate check. Thanks America! BTW, to any new moms out there, my best advice is print as you take them, you'll regret not doing it in 5 years.

  2. Use the search feature on your file manager and look for certain known duplicate file names.  Then look for the original (by date usually is good) and then make sure the file you save is the largest one ... you may have inadvertently overwritten the original when modifying it or resizing it, so it is important you look closely before you delete any.

You can uses this method do eventually clean up your hard drive ... just take your time and do a little each day.

To prevent this in the future, after you have copied all your images to your computer, format the card using the format feature on your camera.  Formatting will refresh your card, write new file folders and a new image index file.  This will assure none of your images will later become corrupt on your card.  At this time, you can find 2 packs of 2GB cards for about $20 when on sale.  Buy some and you will never run out of space in the middle of a shoot.
