  1. I think if you try with Online that would do much better effect on your plan. You need to write a very  good article and post them. Later you need to get some good traffic as well and see your plans. It really works wonder if you do it correctly and wisely.

  2. The best thing to do is to advertise everywhere you can.

    OFFLINE:

-Newspapers and Magazines especially sports ones!

-Get compnaies like shoes companies to exhcange promotions with you. make sure they actually do it.

-Create flyers and post in homes (many do this) telling people about this event. Put full details like e-mail, web and phone for people to finout more or simply turn up.

    ONLINE:

I suggest http://www.sellit-right.com/ they allow urls too and not too picky. edit whenever you like.

-Id also suggest allowing comments on your blog(s).

-Create a logo and hanf out or put on your vehicle.

-Never spam people or organisations coz that will certainly loose you biz!

-Facebook and Myspace is a great place all you need to do is find serious and open people in these groups.

  3. Talk with editors of newspapers and magazines directly. They may find it a good story or may tell you whom to approach.

  4. I would suggest you try companies that might have some interest in supporting such an effort - such as shoe companies (he can offer to wear their shoes exclusively for the walk) companies that produce energy drinks, maybe camping supplies or any other companies that might be invested in walking/endurance sports.  As mentioned previously, your friend needs to offer something in return for the sponsorship - wearing logos or using products, etc.  You can do a press release announcing the start of the walk, and get the local papers and television stations interested - and if the media is interested, companies will have more interest in sponsoring the walk.

Best of luck to you, and your friend for making such a great effort to help out!
