I work in a pub / restaurant, and i hate 60% of the people i serve, Its the kind of pub that brings in all the pretentious morons that think they are better than you, but the place isn't very expensive, it just tries to be upmarket which makes it even worse. When one of them moans at me like its the end of the world about taking too long to change a barrel when I'm the only one on the bar and its rammed, I swear to god i want to ram a pint glass into their face so hard that it would come out the other side, so i would have a cylindrical chunk of their head in the glass. When i first started the job, i was ok, but i cant take the pathetic behavior of the English general public anymore, 60% complete morons, I swear.

  1. Become a care assistant for the elderly, they are real nice! As long as you are ok to clean bums..

  2. Well, sir, I'm an American working a job similar but not so similar to yours. I work at McDonald's. There I said it. Anyways, when I first started there as a service member, I couldn't find it in myself to pretend to 'not care' or 'be nice' to the paying customers. The problem is not the region or country. It's just that customers of any service business anywhere in the world believe that since they can't extort power or regret-free gratification without getting their asses handed to them, so they turn to people who are forced to be civil, submissive, and polite no matter the circumstances. Just the other day, I got a repremand for telling a rude customer to "have a nice f*cking night" right to her face. She came through the very next night and asked if I got fired. See? Trolls don't just exist in cyberspace. Some people just thrive on, and get their jollies from angering those that they feel superior to, i.e., those who have no choice but to take it like a *****.

My advice to you is the advice I'm currently taking: Just remember that you're getting paid to pretend it doesn't bother you and they're wasting their money on killing themselves slowly. Next time a customer at your pub gives you ****, just smile and picture him/her in a hospital bed with jaundice and liver failure. If that doesn't work... hide all the pint glasses and take a deep breath.

  3. Just do it you will feel sooooo good!  (as soon as you post bail)

  4. It is pretty normal.

Just try and focus on the ones that don't suck and aren't morons.

Good luck, and start looking for a new job!

There's no reason you should have to absolutely suffer through work all day.

  5. To me it sounds like you're just frustrated. You cannot satisfy everyone sadly. People will complain left and right because they feel that they have to be waited on 24/7. Though I probably would not act on these feelings, unless its like a punching bag. Use that as an outlet and imagine its one of your belligerent customers.

  6. Are you by any chance Irish?  Have a smoke and tell yourself its gonna be okay.  Then when your shift is done go somewhere else and get drunk!

  7. i usually want to whack the boss

  8. sounds like you are getting stressed out from that job and you've been dealing with the stress by converting it to anger. perhaps you should try a job with less social interaction. if you feel like you are always angry- try taking medicine or go to therapy to calm your nerves.

  9. LMAO!!!! I completely understand and yes, it's normal.  I worked in bars and restaurants for a very long time and you are not alone in your thinking or fantasizing rather.

There are a lot of stupid and annoying people in the world and unless one has worked in this industry, they will never understand.

  10. You might be in the wrong line of work. Have you consider a career in the Mafia or maybe law enforcement?

  11. it's not normal so i like to dance like theres no pie in the kitchen!!!!!!!!!!!!! YA

  12. - wow.
