first of all u should confirm if u could own land in lancedown or not.most of the hill states have a law that outsiders can not own land on hills.people usually buy it on power of attorney.actual owner will remain a local person on papers but u will have all the rights to hold this property.

though i guess uttranchal is an exception but not sure about it.

moreover if u purchase agriculture land anywhere in india and do not keep guard of it then u r at risk of loosing it.if any farmer start cultivation on ur land for some specifit time then he becomes the owner and u cant kick him out of ur land.

i guess i could put better light on this issu if u disclose ur purpose for buying land.

if it is only for a home away from home purpose then there are better locations to reach.
