I want to purchase a Burton Custom wide 167. I'm 6' foot tall and wondering if a 167 would be to long for me?

I weight 185lbs, size 12 boots and I'm just a little over 6'. I need a freeride/all-mountain board so following your good advises I've decided to go 162CM BURTON CUSTOM WIDE instead of a 167CM. Thank you all !

  1. hey im 6 ft i ride a 158 burton custom  (not wide)

its perfect. i really dought you will need a wide board but if you insist on it i would not get a a 167. that is super heavy and too long. they whould not even make a board that big its unrealistic. you will have a much easier time with a shorter board. but its all about what you want. some places will let you test ride the boards and you cand buy it if you like it. you should look in to that. good luck

  2. its all about the way you control your board and the responce you want from it

  3. I had to go with the wider longer board due to my weight and foot size.  I started riding on an old 156 freestyle board, and had serious problems with too much board flex and toe drag.  Now I ride an old Burton Floater 167 pow board pretty much everywhere on the mountain...even in the park.  The wider board works wonders with my size 13 feet, and the thing is plenty stiff enough for a 220 pounder like myself.  For me, the longer wider board was a necessity, and Ive loved every minute of it.

  4. I am also 6'0" and learned how to ride on a 166.  This was a while ago and longer boards were normal then.  I still have the board and take it out now and then to cruise fast on groomed runs or on pow days.

You didn't mention your weight.  If you are over 200 lbs, then the board will be fine for you.  If you are lighter, you can still make it work just fine, you will just have to put more into it.  If you like to go fast and are not too interested in tricks, it could be a, OK board.

For a more "standard" size board you might consider something in the 157-162 range - depending on your weight.

  5. If you are going to be bombing fresh powder, then you could ride it.  General riding that board is way too long for you.  My all mountain board is a 156 and I'm 6'1", and my powder board is a 161.  I'd definitely go with a shorter board.
