i have been using samsung in india with no problem for 3 yrs.&indesit in dubai for 4 yrs.but i suggest you to change the machines every third year.so that u dont have to spend money repairing every other day.& also u can get new models.

It depends on your needs.  Do you live alone?  Have a family?  Will you be washing every day, every week?  

Maytag and Kenmore have good reps for washing machines.  Front loaders are kind of a hassle, but they save a lot of water and are easier on your clothes (no agitators).

The older Maytags are great but the newer ones since 2001 are not so great - the company almost went bankrupt and started replacing steel parts with plastic to keep costs down. They've been bought by Whirlpool so hopefully in a year or two they'll be back to making quality appliances.

I like my Whirlpool Duet. I have the smaller Sport model, which is great for one or two people, but if you have lots of laundry I'd go with the larger one. You'll use far less detergent, your water and electric bills will be less, and your clothes will be less damaged with a modern front-loader like the Duet.

I'd avoid the LG front-loader, though - there have been problems with the motor seizing, and unless you are in a major US city repairs may be difficult to arrange for.

Ive had my Maytag washer/dryer since 1986 and its still in beautiful shape.  Never had one repair to the washer.  I had to get some heating thing for the dryer about 1995.. but otherwise. No problem.

They cost a little bit more, but with a cheapie, I wouldve spent more with repairs or replacement costs.

Mine is a top loader.  I have a laundry area in the kitchen, and I just like the looks of it better.

Remember a washer is a long term purchase.  You might be single now, but in a few years..you might wish you'd gotten a larger one. Plan ahead.
