I want to put a sound system in my car. Subwoofers?

I currently have an aftermarket sony xplode radio in my car. I want to put in an amp subwoofers and speakers but i know absolutely nothing about what i need or how to do it. I was thinking of getting the matching speakers amp and subwoofer for my radio. What i want to know is if i have to change all the speakers in my car to aftermarket speakers or if i can leave some alone or will that blow them out? Are the sony speakers worth it? I am in college so i dont have that much cash and i figured i could get all the parts and a 1000 watt amp for about 500 total. How hard is it to install speakers? I am a do-it-yourself kind of guy and can normally figure things out without much problem. Please help!

I wouldn't get the sony speakers, get some quality speakers, i suggest alpine.  It will be tight for under 500 but definitely doable.  Don't cheap out on cheap equipment to save money you will notice a difference in sound quality and it wont last.

I am going to suggest a 2 channel amp with a set of component speakers for the front.  With a sub you will barely notice the rear speakers so dont worry about replacing them.

Either disconnect the rear speakers or leave them running off your head unit.

Get a mono amp and a sub for the rear i've never put in subs so i cant recommend anything, but look around sonicelectronix, yahoo answers, read reviews and you will learn everything you need to know about them.

I installed my system with no experience so it is possible, definitely not easy thou.  Search the internet lots and you will find all the resources you need to install the system yourself.  feel free to message me with any question you have.

yes change out speakers i wouldnt buy sony speakers,infinity will be your best route,then you will need a subs with box wiring kit and amp speaker install is very easy getting the door panel off is easy putting it back on is a stuggle good luck
