  1. If the ridges are relatively even, don't do anything.  Lay your padding, and then lay the floor over it.  If there are peaks and valleys, you will need to level the floor.  Using a long (10' or so) straightedge, fill in dips of more than 1/8" with latex floor leveler.  If the board rocks, that spot will need to be ground or scraped.  THen lay the padding and floor.  Hope this helps.


  2. Pearl Abrasive makes something called the Hexpin system.  Its a wheel that goes on a floor maintainer, which you can both rent at the home depot tool rental.  It has carbide bits, and it will remove that adhesive in no time.

  3. Go to a home store (home depot or lowes) and in the flooring section there is a giant scrapper. It looks like a putty knife the size of a broom. It is made to scrap stuff off a hard floor. Just make sure you have pulled up all the staples from the carpet before you start to scrap. Good luck!
