Okay, So I would like to put my pictures onto a cd. How do I do this? What type of cd do I need? and how many pictures can I fit onto a cd? Is its holding capacity determined by number of pictures OR the size of each picture?

Thankya.

  1. The type of CD you need depends on your computer. Does it have a CD-R, CD-RW. If you have a CD-RW drive you can use either. If you have the older CD-R drive you can only use CD-R. How many pictures it would hold would depend on your file sizes. They hold 700 MB so if you have a 1 MB file it would hold 700 of them, a 5 MB file size it would hold 140 and so on. If you have a DVD-R, DVD-RW or DVD+RW it will hold 4.71 GB

  2. you need to have a drive that burns cd/dvds, a program (Nero is the best), some clean cd's (700mb)(you can buy them at staples) and the capacity is determined by the size of the pictures.

  3. A CD has the capacity to hold 700mb of data, and a DVD 4.50Gb.

You can put a couple hundred photos on CD depending on the size of each photo. JPG is usually the smallest size, and TIFF and PNG in the larger tier. JPG images are low quality, so if you desire quality print outs of images store in TIFF or PNG.

To burn the images you need to have authoring soft such as Nero, EasyCd creator, etc. If you just wish to make a data cd of images, you only need a burner, and just drag and drop the photos unto the CD rom icon in My Computer folder. On the left side of the folder window you will see some options for writing/burning the CD after you finish adding the pictures. Just click the option to burn and follow the prompt to complete the process.

If using Nero or other software, they will have the easy options to do the same by prompting you each step of the way.
