I want to quit piano?

I'm currently 15 years old and a half. I've been playing piano ever since I was nearly 8. I do trinity exams and it's quite expensive.. currently I am studying Grade 6 (grade 8 is the last). The last 4 years I really wanted to quit but my parents won't let me? I've always had many commitments from numerous sports, to my job. I got my job this year, and I really have no time.. I hardly have any time for my friends also. As for piano last year the examination was on the same day as two of my school examination and I didn't get to study for my school exams cause I had to focus on piano exam.

I have no interest and I hardly practise cause I have no time and I suck at it and i'm so slow at learning. Last year and the year before I got so worried I wouldn't pass that I started crying randomly. it really put a lot of pressure on me. How can I tell my parents that I want to quit? They are strict and I know they will be disappointed and or mad. My parents spend over one thousand dollars on my piano alone. Also sometimes I can't sleep at night cause of the pressure.. of piano.

I bet you that they will say what they said before.. "You've gone so far into piano and now you want to quit blah blah.."

I asked my piano teacher about grade 8 saying you can study it if you want but not everyone passes.. as you have to be concentrated on piano and you wouldn't have time if you had any other commitments and etc..

  1. i know  exactly what you mean expect its softball but i love piano. i want to quit softball and im in the the same situation as you but with softball. i have two teams one during school and one after and its all through

weekends and breaks and during school i have softball ive been playing it since i was 5  and they say the same thing.softball is said to be more important than breathing as told by my parents.im just gonna quit and tell

my coaches they cant force me to not do what i want even if it kills them its my decision.( ps...i have know idea what grade in piano i am. i stop doing stuff with grades on it in several years and i was at grade 4)

  2. I think that you should quit if you actually really want to stop. I also play the piano i'm with Trinity Guildhall and I'm about to start grade 4. I think that it was bad that you had 2 other exams on your piano examination because I know how stressful it is. If it is really bad for you then just tell them that you don't want to do it anymore because you are feeling that you have not as much time to do what you want to do.

  3. Why in the world would you want to stop?  I begged my mother to let me take piano lessons when I was young, but of course I couldn't do that.  I would give my right knee cap if I could read music and play.  I bet you are really good.  Don't quit.  Someday you will be glad you didn't.
