I want to receive posted/offered items to/from my local group only when I wish to use the group-?

I want to prevent my in-box becomming cluttered with posted items numbering in hundreds

-only when searching or offering do I want to open the freecycle site-

how to prevent this clutter to in-box, short of cancelling site alltogether!!!?

only way to do this is select no mail and read of the group site

then go to this link http://groups.yahoo.com/mygroups click edit my groups on the top left- locate group (if there's more than one) under the column Message delivery click the arrow for the drop down box and select no mail or digest- click save changes
