I want to recycle, because I am a total tree-hugger (and I take that literally, I got a litttle too emotianal last night, and I actually hugged a tree. lol!!) Anyway, I would be the complete tree-hugging package if I was a vegetarian and I recycled, but I am a really busy person, and recycling seems like a lot of work. IE:

Sorting Paper, plastics, glass, etc.

Any Advice?

  1. I fill my re-cycling box each week with paper and glass, batteries and any old clothes, which is what my council collects; I place it by the front gate; this entire exercise takes around 10 minutes per week. As I travel around, rather than throwing away my newspaper or the paper bag my sandwich is wrapped in, I place them in my backpack and take them home to put in my re-cycling box. No time involved, just a little thought. If you profess to care about the environment, this is the least you can do.

  2. lol it is no work at all, it is gonna be more work to try and think of a solution for all those landfills!

  3. It really is such a simple habit to get in to.  Once you've done it for a few weeks it becomes automatic and doesn't take any more effort than throwing stuff into one bin.

If you are not provided with bins and boxes from your council, you can buy recycling containers, or find suitable boxes yourself and colour code or label them.  All you have to do is fill them with the right stuff.  eg. paper in the 'paper' box, plastic in the 'plastic' box, glass in the 'glass' box etc.

  4. maybe your town recycling doesn't require you to separate everything. where my mom is, she puts newspaper in one bin, magazines and junk mail in another, and cans glass and plastic go in a third. all she does is rinse the food containers, sooooo simple. she puts them out on a certain day just like the trash and that's it. we've been doing it for years and years, i don't ever remember not having to rinse all of those d**n cans. you should check into it, because that is amazingly easy to do.

  5. It's not really that much work, if you do it at the time. For instance, when  you use a can put it in the can bin, same for paper and glass. Soon it will become an habit, and you'll wonder what all the worry was about.

    Happy recycling.

  6. It is not too much work if you get it organised.  You just need a box for each type of material and your local collection authority probably provide one or two already.

My local authority provides a wheelie bin for plastic, paper and tin cans.  That leaves me to provide a box for glass.  The wheelie bin is collected every other week and I take the glass to the supermarket bin when I go shopping.

So you see I have no sorting to do.  I just throw my rubbish into the correct receptacle and the job is done.  No trouble, just a satisfied glow.

    Best wishes

  7. You don't sound to dedicated to me........lets face it no snowflake can accept the responsibility of an avalanche.

You might be busy now, but in a few years, you may not have what it takes to be busy with, because it will be gone.

At the end of the day CAN you live with your conscience if you dont at least TRY????

  8. well if you really are passionate about it you will do it , but if you dont , you aint really to bothered , i like huggin trees

  9. urm

its not hard.  .  . once you get the hang of it.

Edit: Why don't you get those orange bags?

You just put paper, cardboard and plastic

in there and put it next to your dustbin and the garbage

             men will take them.

  10. Get 2 containers.  Put em right next to each other.  Chuck recyclables in one, trash in the other.  Done.

  11. It really doesn't take a lot of effort to recycle. When you're throwing your trash away all you need to do is set aside another bag or container for recyclables. Then find a recycling plant to drop them off at.

You can read more about recycling here:

    Good luck!
