Question:

I want to redo my room?

I really want to just redo everything in my room. Like everything, carpet, walls, bedding, etc. I need help though. I have to pick the colors out because the painter is coming on Saturday (tomorrow). I really want a sophisticated look. I was thinking about pink, but it seems to childish. Is there any way I can make pink more grown up? Can someone gives me examples of colors? Ideas for anything else are also welcome. I really like the toile pattern, if anyone could help me out with that. Thanks!

Also, I really want to put this poster in my room, I have it framed and ready, but I don't want it to mismatch everything.

  1. how about painting your walls the next shade lighter or the next shade darker of the green in your poster. that way, it brings out the green as an accent and you will have a more balanced setting with green on the walls and pink in your toile fabric, since reds/pinks and greens are opposite each other on the color wheel. i think that would look very sophisticated!!  (:

  2. Well, pink can be both childish, and also sophisticated with a combination of black and white tones. You can go for a classic look with that tolie pattern in your link, but in your case it would be a total disagreement with the poster. Maybe you could get that poster stenciled or incorporated into a frame that bares a Scons on each side. For your color pallet, I would suggest Eggshell white, along with cream's and subtle pink. Your constrasting color should be hints of dark red or even black if you want to be bold. I am not suggesting painting a wall black, but with things like throw pillows and other accessories, you can make the room pop.

Pending your budget, I would also suggest some crystal's in your room, maybe a crystal lampshade. For your walls, I would suggest clear, clean mirrors, shaped in a diamond pattern (which is easy, just tilt the square mirrors into a diamond). For your flooring, if you CAN do tile, you should do clean white tiles which can be cheap.

    good luck

  3. by mother, do you mean a fifteen year old mother? cuz you sound immature.

  4. Pink is not childish if you know how to work it. Try putting a raspberry-colour it's not red and it's a soft mature pink. For the carpet a VERY awesome thing I even did for my room was get it in polka dots. Like completely magenta or purple carpet with white polka dots or just wooden floor with two round rugs that are fluffy or shape (ex. a purple fluffy one and another shaped like a sea turtle) putting some shelves is much better than hanging your friends/you/pets' pictures on a small drawer next to your bed. Hang them from the wall and put photos and a flower vace with real or fake flowers.

Your poster would be great and your toile is beautiful.

From the inside of your room try putting a huge poster of something you like, (ex. ballet shoes, a flower, a boy)

  5. You could paint your room a really light pink, like to where it's almost white, then have your bedding be the pink toile (btw, I'm looking for the same print except in blue, let me know if you find any!). Since the poster has pink in it, get a really fancy frame (it doesn't have to be expensive, Urban Outfitters would have something), and put it on the wall. Since your a mom, I wouldn't go with white carpet, but if you do, which I think it would look really nice, make sure it's stain resistant. Idk how old your kids are, but at any age they can be messy.

  6. stick with hot pick... not so dark that it looks like red, but not so bright that it gives you a headache...

  7. Check out HGTV.com

Check this out! but I would do one wall the rose color like the one where your bed will be your poster would look great and get accent pieces with the green color. Answering your question (which they did not ) the way they did was soooo much more immature.
