I live inb a 3 bed/1 bath home. The home was built in 1927 and is on piers. The bathroom is located between the master bedroom and a secondary bedroom. I woulod like to relocate it between the 2 secondary bedrooms and also add a bathroom to the master bedroom.

Any idea how expensive and difficult this might be? I know a lot will go into this but any info can help me. Thanks!

  1. It sounds more like you want to move the entry to the first bathroom so that it's a master bath rather than just a regular bath.  Depending on where you plumbing is, that should be fairly easy.

Adding the second bath is where you're going to be spending you money.  You'll not only have to construct the room, you'll also have to run the plumbing and sewer across to it.  My advice... don't even attempt it yourself.  Hire someone who does it for a living.  There are two things you should never do if you're not an expert...  Plumbing and electrical.

  2. most pipes are easy to run, the hardest ones are to the toilet! you have to consider the  sewage lines, and you will Definitely have to meet with a contractor, and a professional plumber.

if i were you i would turn the existing bathroom into the master bath, and renovate it with a wall knockdown etc. then add the main bathroom where you want it. make sure to seek a professional, because you don't know where things are behind your walls, which walls are load bearing etc.

plus, older homes live up to OLD building codes. when my parents renovated (theirs is circa 1912- 1919) they had to add joists in the floor, and studs to the walls. everything was 20-22 inches, and todays code is no less than 16 inches between studs! (i could be wrong, its been several years, but it was still a hassle)

good luck! check everyone against the BBB!
