Question:

I want to remove the wallpaper and paint over it, is it this straight forward?

or do i need to see if the wall is able to gt painted on and what not

Sometimes when you remove wallpaper the surface of the drywall gets torn up and you have to skim coat and sand the drywall to smooth out the surface, then prime the wall and paint it.  I've removed wallpaper with just hot water and a plastic trowel and fingers, washed all the sizing, wallpaper glue, etc., off the wall real well, filled and sanded any little holes,  primed and then painted.  If the wallpaper is old and if the wall wasn't sized, or there's lots of layers, you have to use a steamer, or score the wall with special tool and spray on wallpaper remove and pick and scrape the wallpaper off.  It can be easy or it can be hard.  Plan for the worst.  The guy on HGTV says mixing fabric softener in hot water and spraying it on the paper is the only way to remove wall paper.
