  1. Easy - stick an ad in your local paper in the property pages. They go like hot cakes!!

  2. Buy a sign and put it in the front yard today.  You are up for rent.  Try to get enuf to cover the loan payment and a little profit.  Check that the tenants have a job and collect the rent each month.  I'm a landlord. /

  3. The DSS don't ever get involved in letting properties and dont waste your time with the Council. No need to use agents or spend a lot of money on adverts.  Just put a 'For Rent' sign in the window or a card in your local shop.  You'll have loads of enquiries.  Just make sure you do all the legal stuff like gas checks, and have a proper tenancy agreement in place.

There is a brilliant website called landlordzone which has loads of resources, - check it out and good luck!

  4. hi i rent my house from  a private landlord thru the council. u should contact the housing options team at yr local council they should be able to help but maybe not every council does this scheme as i was the first person in my area to be helped in this way.  u can ask for the rent to be paid direct to you if u want and also the council guarantee the deposit if the tenant doesnt have it.   obviously it is very difficult to rent a property if u are DSS and im very grateful to my landlord for giving us a chance, myself and children were left homeless thru no fault of our own - i was caring for my mum and she had to go into a home and the house sold to pay for it.  my daughter is renting her house out via an agent but has accepted a tenant who is DSS they both were made redundant and had their house reposessed, so we are not all bad and its great that u could give someone a chance, i appreciate it so i ensure that i look after my landlords house for him as if it was my own.

anyway hope this has helped a bit.
