I'm not exactly sure how it was bent, possibly wrong card orientation, possibly some foreign material in the card. The part I found on ebay is the card reader pin section. Trying to not spend $200 to repair a $350 camera.

The card did work when inserted to my printer card reader.

  1. There is really no user repairable parts on any digital camera.  You may want to reconsider and let Canon do the repair.

Could you tell us how you bent the pin?  I would help us to know, so we don't  do that ourselves.

  2. OMG. Don't even try it. I saw a camera taken apart at a store--and it was like brain surgery. It is not a do-it-ya-self project.

CF only goes in one way. How in the world did it happen. I only can think that some object (a grain of sand, perhaps) may have been stuck in the HOLE of the card, and you just shoved it in?
